Vendors should know their software and therefore, can easily dispense sound advice provided you equip them with the necessary information such as your retail model. More importantly, they should be able to justify the returns of investment.

#2 Will there be a team dedicated to help you with installation and implementation process?

Most vendors include a project management team to go with your purchase. The group is there to help you out with the installation procedure, which may experience glitches and other technical issues that require high level of IT expertise. It is a good indication when vendors provide their potential clients with list of former and current customers that have the same business models and present how their system greatly benefited from their products. These references can also be a good source of first hand information if you decide to ask them directly how they find their POS and inquire about their experience with the software.

#4 Is there a turnkey solution offered by the provider for equipment, maintenance, software, support and training?

A topnotch retail POS solution not only offers high quality customer support for clients, but also a single support hub that their customers can immediately go to whenever they experience any difficulty. It is like having a single number to call for a myriad of problems. You definitely do not want to keep an extensive list of phone numbers for different types of support, do you?

#5 Does the vendor focuses on your industry?

While there many retail POS software vendors out there, it is always a best practice to go for a system that concentrates on the industry where you business belongs. This results to seamless transitions, smooth transactions, and a better understanding between vendor and client. It is always nice to have someone who knows the technicalities and needs of your business even without you saying word, isn’t it?
